Try the new Hammock Youth Guild 9 Hole Course in Dunedin. It`s been redesigned to make better use of the property and is shaping up very nicely. It`s a great beginner course that is family friendly. Just watch out for the dog dookie. It`s just south of St. Andrews, 2 blocks off of Alt. 19. Look for the signs. There`s short pads and long pads, for now, and a plan for 9 more baskets on the existing 9 holes. But there`s also some haters who`d like to have the course removed. Lately, they`ve been vandalizing it. If you`d like to help us keep the course and improve it down the line, call the city at 727-298-3007 and voice your support. Or email the Dunedin city council and let them know you play out there. Or sign our petition at the shop. We`re closing in on 200 signatures. Every little bit helps.
It`s important that disc golfers put thier best face forward on this course. Please don`t speed through the neighborhood - they could be your kids out there playing in the streets. Don`t litter, be respectful to the residents and don`t use alcohol on the course. Disc Golf is under a microscope here and we`d like to prove it`s value as an asset to the community. This is our chance to do it! We`ve got an extra 9 baskets that we`d like to get in someday out there. It`s up to the local residents to decide if this will happen in the future. We can help them form a positive attitude toward our sport that will last a lifetime.
